Margaret River Sporting Events

While Margaret River in Western Australia is known for its wine, food and arts festivals, sporting events in Margaret River are also big occasions on the annual calendar. If your Margaret River holiday is focussed around surfing, swimming or triathlon events, you'll find the competition fever you're looking for in this region.

A map of Margaret River will show the region perched on the Indian Ocean in the south west of Western Australia. Its surf breaks are some of the most-loved by surfers worldwide, so enjoy taking your board to the water and carving your own rides in the pristine ocean.

When the Margaret River Pro, formerly known as the Margaret River Masters, brings competitive surfing to Margaret River at Surfers Point, it's time to watch from the beach. This competition is an Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour event so it draws some of the biggest names to compete.

The Ironman Western Australian triathlon competition is held in Busselton in December each year and is open to keen sportspeople from the age of 18 upwards. While the seaside course is a challenging one, you'll also find it to be a beautiful one.

The Busselton Jetty Swim started off in 1996 as a bit of local fun, but the four kilometre course around the jetty has since turned into an international event. More than 1,000 swimmers take to the ocean for a mad dash for the finish line, so if swimming is your forte you could try your luck at this event.
